ANDY LAST believes that there could be a number of reasons as to why Hull FC didn’t move for Sam Eseh for 2027 and beyond.
Eseh made 17 appearances for Hull FC on loan from Wigan Warriors during the 2025 Super League campaign.
Impressing in that spell for the Black and Whites, there was some consternation amongst Hull fans when Bradford Bulls announced the permanent signing of Eseh from 2027 on a three-year deal.
They were left questioning why Hull didn’t make a move for the 22-year-old, but interim boss Last feels several factors could have come into it.
“Things with regards to next year, they are conversations for Richie (Myler, Hull’s chief executive) and the club,” Last said.
“With regards to Sam Eseh, I’m sure they will have enquired about him, I know we’re in for any good players on the market.
“But, there will be reasons why we’ve maybe not gone down that route. It could be salary reasons, our salary cap issues – have we spent up? – I don’t know.
“Sam is a good player and he did a good job for us in that period on loan.
“He gets in Wigan’s 17-man squad on a weekly basis and got himself a good deal at Bradford so good luck to him.”
There has also been speculation recently that Aidan Sezer could be heading for the exit door at the MKM Stadium, but Last kept his close to his chest.
“That’s a conversation for Richie and Steve (McNamara, Hull FC’s head coach in 2027) for next year.
“I’m just controlling this next period until the end of the season.”
