Aston hints at double boost

Sheffield Eagles could welcome back talismanic centre Menzie Yere and winger Garry Lo for Sunday’s showdown with Bradford.

The pair have been named in Sheffield’s 19-man squad to face the Bulls on Sunday after spells on the sidelines. Yere’s absence has been just one game long, sitting out Monday’s defeat to Dewsbury with a hamstring injury. As for Lo, he has been out since making his debut at Batley, dislocating his shoulder shortly after scoring his first try for the club.

“We have certainly missed Menzie Yere and Garry Lo,” Aston told The Sheffield Star. “We’ll look at Menzie, but we are hoping he will be right for the weekend. We are keeping our fingers crossed. If Garry Lo can get the green light from the specialist this week, then he’ll be in contention to play at the weekend.”

Rhys Jacks, the Canadian international that was on trial at Bradford, is also in Sheffield’s squad, but Dave Hewitt is a doubt for the game with a rib problem while winger Ben Blackmore is suspended.
