AUDIO: Ratchford remains upbeat despite Saints setback

Warrington Wolves utility Stefan Ratchford refused to be downbeat following their defeat to St Helens on Thursday night – but admitted that they were “miles off” in the opening round of the Super 8s.

The Wolves lost 20-18 to the Saints to open up the possibility of third-placed Wigan overtaking them in the table on Friday night if they can beat Wakefield.

And Ratchford told TotalRL that while it is disappointing to slip to defeat, there is no need for panic just yet with the Wolves still hunting success on all fronts this year.

“We’re really disappointed result-wise and performance-wise,” he said.

“The last three weeks we’ve been building quite nicely and we had a good attacking display at the weekend but tonight we were miles off. We were a bit sloppy tonight.

“You don’t want to lose any games of course so we’re disappointed but we’ve got plenty more games to put things right. We’ll get back to the drawing board; drastic changes aren’t needed because what we’ve done before now has been working.”
