Batley Bulldogs player charged with using homophobic abuse

Batley Bulldogs player Lee Paterson has been charged with using homophobic abuse to another player in the 72nd minute of a Kingstone Press Championship fixture against Leigh Centurions played on Sunday August 3.

Patterson was dismissed by the referee and will face a Grade E charge when he appears before an independent disciplinary tribunal next Tuesday (August 5).

No other players were charged with offences in Championships fixtures from today’s meeting of the Match Review Panel. Paterson could receive between a four and eight match ban for the Grade E offence,
