BEN CURRIE has admitted he won’t be satisfied until Warrington Wolves have won Super League.
The 32-year-old was included in this year’s Super League Dream Team after the Wolves secured a third-place finish.
Currie has excelled this season in the loose-forward position, despite the fact that he earned his only previous Dream Team appearance as a second-rower in 2016.
“It’s amazing that it’s ten years since the last time I was in there,” Currie said.
“Last time I was named in there was at second row and this time it’s at loose forward. It’s nice to get in it for the second time, but extra nice that it’s a second position as well.”
Part of the furniture now at the Halliwell Jones Stadium, Currie recently played his 300th career game in what is his 15th season with the Wolves.
“That’s crept up a lot this year – the age thing,” he said. “People keep saying I’m one of the older ones, one of the more senior blokes, but it is a compliment.
“I still feel young and like I’ve got many more years in me, and I’m going to try and pass on all my experience to the other players.
“It’s strange, all the players I’ve seen come and go at Warrington in this time.”
But there is a burning desire to win a league title with the Wolves, who host defending champions Hull KR in Saturday’s play-off eliminator.
“It’s what you dream of as a kid,” said Currie, whose only major trophy success so far was the 2019 Challenge Cup.
“I’ve been here 15 years at Warrington, and I’ve not managed to do it yet.
“I’ve said many times, I won’t be satisfied at this club until I do win that trophy.
“I’ll be giving it my all and I know the lads will as well.”
