Big day for Women’s Rugby League

The 2016 Women’s Challenge Cup & Challenge Shield Finals Day will take place on Sunday, July 31 at Bradford Bulls’ Provident Stadium writes Oliver Roby.
The Women’s Challenge Shield will kick off proceedings at 1.00pm, with Whitley Bay Barbarians taking on Thatto Heath Reserves.
Then, at 3.00pm, Thatto could be set for a remarkable double as their first team face off with Leigh Miners Rangers.
Sunday will mark a day of firsts as Miners, Shield winners last year, take part in their first-ever Challenge Cup final, while it is the first time one club will be represented by two teams on Women’s Finals Day.
It will also be a historic day for Whitley Bay, who are the first North East club ever to reach a Women’s Rugby League final.
Entry to the day is just £4 for adults, with concessions £2.
