WIGAN WARRIORS are priced at odds of 1/2 by William Hill to win this year’s Super League Grand Final, comfortably ahead of the three other play-off teams.

Leeds Rhinos are priced at 11/4, Warrington Wolves at 8/1 and Wakefield Trinity, who are Wigan’s semi-final opponents on Saturday, are priced at 16/1.

And William Hill stand to lose considerably if Wigan do emerge triumphant at Old Trafford on 3rd October, as confirmed by William Hill spokesman Lee Phelps, who has confirmed that a Wakefield win would also create a liability for the bookmaker.

“Ahead of this weekend’s Super League semi-finals, we are wary of Wigan Warriors and Wakefield Trinity as they are the biggest liabilities in our outright book,” he said.

“Wigan are currently 1/2 favourites but had hit a high of 9/4 earlier in the season after injuries to some key players. Our punters took advantage and, as it stands, they account for over two-thirds of all stakes in the outright betting.

“At the other end of the spectrum we have Wakefield who are currently 16/1 but were as big as 40s earlier in the season, with a number of customers taking advantage of that price.

“A Leeds Rhinos v Warrington Wolves final would be the dream for us, but with Wigan looking very tough to beat and Wakefield flying for the past couple of months, we’re bracing ourselves for a losing final for our books.”
