Brad Arthur’s agent reveals how Leeds Rhinos move happened and job he almost took instead

BRAD ARTHUR is enjoying a new lease of life in Super League with Leeds Rhinos, his agent Chris Orr has said.

Orr, of Pacific Sports Management, is one of the highest profile agents in the game of rugby league, managing a considerable amount of players and coaches on both sides of the world.

Arthur, who took charge of the Rhinos midway through the 2024 campaign, is one of those.

But the move to Headingley may never have come about had it not been for Orr putting the idea forward to Arthur, who had been linked with a different job in the NRL before taking up a deal with Leeds.

“He finished after 11 years at Parramatta, didn’t think in his wildest dreams that he would end up at Leeds Rhinos – that was my idea,” Orr told James Graham’s The Bye Round podcast.

“He was possibly heading to be director of rugby or assistant coach to Adam O’Brien at Newcastle and I said ‘how about we do this instead, this is a better idea?’

“He has loved it. It’s given him a new perspective on coaching because over there you sometimes get a whole week off – imagine that?

“I don’t think I’ve ever seen Brad Arthur have a break and I think his only holiday when he was over here was in Bali.

“Here he is now on the Amalfi coast enjoying a week off with his family in the middle of the season.”
