CANTERBURY BULLDOGS 32 WESTS TIGERS 0
CALLUM WALKER, Accor Stadium, Saturday
CANTERBURY proved far too strong for a Wests side that accrued two sin bins but not a single point.
In the final quarter Latu Fainu, for a dangerous tackle, and Alex Twal, for punching, were ordered off as the Tigers continued their slippery slide down the NRL ladder.
The Bulldogs climbed to eleventh whilst Wests haven’t won in five games now – and they never looked like beating Canterbury from the first whistle.
In fact, it took the home side just two minutes to break the deadlock when Jethro Rinakama crossed in the corner following a stunning Sean O’Sullivan 40/20.
The Bulldogs doubled their lead five minutes later, Josh Curran pouncing on a pinpoint Lachlan Galvin grubber, before Rinakama was denied a double for a knock-on.
Canterbury weren’t denied on 23 minutes, however, Enari Tuala forcing his way over near the touchline off a brilliant Jacob Preston pass.
Already 18-0 down, the Tigers simply capitulated in the second half after Latu Fainu was sinbinned.
Matt Burton crossed just two minutes after that indiscretion as Twal found himself joining Fainu on the ten-minute naughty step.
With a two-man advantage, the Bulldogs rounded things off with another Curran effort as time ran down.
