Carney could miss two months of action

Castleford Tigers have confirmed that winger Justin Carney will need to undergo elbow surgery after the injury he sustained during last weekend’s win against Hull KR.

The blow, which forced Carney off the field during the match, means he will need to go under the knife for the blow, which could sideline him for up to two months, the club have confirmed.

Carney’s absence could be offset by the return of fellow winger James Clare from injury this weekend though, to soften the blow of losing Carney.

“Justin needs an operation and will be out for six to eight weeks,” said Castleford coach Daryl Powell.

“It’s tough to take but is probably the best-case scenario we could have expected and hope to get a key strike weapon back ASAP.”
