Castleford Tigers to make decision on Sneyd, says Powell

Castleford Tigers head coach Daryl Powell says the club will weigh up their options regarding Marc Sneyd, after he had a transfer request formally rejected by Salford Red Devils.

Sneyd has been outstanding for the Tigers so far in 2014, having joined on a season-long loan deal as part of the move to take Rangi Chase to Salford. However, with Michael Dobson now signed up at the AJ Bell Stadium for 2015, Sneyd informed the club he wished to move on – a request that was formally denied by the club earlier this week.

And Powell says they will make a decision regarding Sneyd’s future when they assess their options in the coming weeks.

“When we had Rangi Chase here he wanted to move on and play somewhere else and what’s the point of keeping a player who doesn’t want to play at your club. That’s happened a couple of times here. But different people have different philosophies. For me you want people at your club who want to play there,” Powell said.

“That’s what we certainly want here. Marc’s made his decision that he wants to play away from there. From our point of view we have to look at it, look at our options and then make a decision accordingly.”
