NATHAN Cayless has secured long-term target Eddie Hampson as his second signing at Hull KR.
The 23-year-old back-rower arrives on a two-year deal from Townsville Blackhawks, following Moala Graham-Taufa through the doors at Craven Park.
Hampson, who progressed through the Blackhawks’ academy before making his senior debut for his hometown club in 2022, has caught the eye in the Queensland Cup thanks to his consistency, try-scoring ability and high work rate.
He has since gone on to make 69 appearances in the competition, scoring 21 times – including a remarkable eleven in 22 matches this year under former Robin Terry Campese.
“I’m really excited to get over,” enthused Hampson, who has an average of 96 running meters per game in 2026.
“I’ve heard so much about the club and the fans.
“From what I hear, the fans are a massive part of the club, so I want to come over, earn the team’s trust and make the fans proud too.”
Cayless is delighted to have brought his long-term target to the club, believing he will add more competition to the forwards following the retirement of Rhyse Martin.
“Eddie is an explosive second-rower who’s got plenty of speed, is a great tackle-breaker and is a try-scorer,” he explained.
“He’s also a player who, more often than not, wins his collisions in the middle. He’ll definitely complement the squad we already have.
“I’ve had my eye on Eddie for a while now and he’s been performing consistently for a number of seasons.”
