Centurions draw Warrington in Challenge Cup

Leigh Centurions will play Warrington Wolves in the quarter-finals of the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup on the weekend of June 27/28, after the draw was made at Belle Vue on Sunday evening by Neil Fox and Tony Barrow, legends of Wakefield and Leigh respectively.

The Centurions had made an astonishing comeback against the Wildcats, after they went 18-0 down in the first half, finally clawing their way back into the game to win 30-36.

They are currently quoted as outsiders, at 50/1, to win the Challenge Cup Final at Wembley on 29 August.

Elsewhere in the draw, holders Leeds Rhinos have been handed another Yorkshire derby, but they will be on the road this time as they travel to Hull FC in a repeat of the 2005 final.

St Helens and Widnes will lock horns for a place in the last four following their wins against sides from outside Super League over the weekend.

Saints comfortably saw off York City Knights, whilst Widnes hung on to narrowly beat Batley Bulldogs 26-22.

The final tie sees Hull KR, conquerers of Wigan on Friday night, take on Catalans Dragons, who beat off an enthusiastic challenge from Featherstone Rovers on Sunday in Perpignan.

Sponsors Ladbrokes have cut Warrington’s odds to 5/2 from 4/1, whilst St Helens also shorten to 15/8 following the draw.

Leeds are quoted at 4/1, with the Catalans the only other side with single-figure odds at 9/1.
