Clubb – We want to win everything

Wigan Warriors forward Tony Clubb has boldly reasserted the club’s intentions for this season, insisting the Warriors believes every piece of silverware up for grabs.

Following their victory over Castleford on Friday, Wigan are joint top of Super League after 11 rounds of the season.

With all teams struggling for consistency, Wigan have managed to keep up with the leading pack despite being without key players George Williams, Sam Tomkins and Michael McIlorum for all or most of the season so far.

But with a number of stars returning to fitness, including captain Sean O’Loughlin, Clubb is confident that Wigan can accelerate their hunt for silverware.

“This club wants to win everything and we don’t hold back in telling people that,” he said.

“We’re confident in what we can achieve. We want to get our hands on absolutely everything that we can.

“That’s how this club is. Waney says it all the time, and it comes from Lockers all the way down. That’s the expectation of this team and club, and people thrive off these things. Waney is passionate and it comes down to the players. Getting into our stride, we think we can do all that.”

Wigan’s players remain frustrated at their inability to produce their devastating best so far this season, but that convinces the former London Broncos star that Wigan have what it takes to succeed this season.

“We’re just losing bodies at the wrong time,” he said.

“We can’t get a combination of our halves together. But in the next week we’ll get some bodies back and the week after that we’ll get more bodies back. Hopefully we can keep them in the team and start putting some combinations together.

“We have the England captain to come back and many internationals. That’s why we’re confident, because we’re winning games and we’ve got kids out there making their debut.”
