BARLA Lions will meet Cumbria at Distington on Sunday (21 October) in a game arranged at short notice following the cancellation of the Lions’ scheduled match with the Army, which had been scheduled for Hindley. The Army have been forced to withdraw because of the unavailability of a number of players and management officials for operational reasons.
Cumbria are using the contest as part of their preparations for the forthcoming BARLA County Tri-Series Championship with Lancashire and Yorkshire, while the Lions are due to embark on a four-match tour of Fiji next month.
BARLA Chair Sue Taylor said: “We are grateful to the Cumbria County Committee for organising this game. I have attended the majority of the Lions’ training sessions and have seen the hard work that the coaches, players and management have put in. Cumbria will be a perfect test for them.”
