Cuthbertson to debut for Leeds on Boxing Day

Leeds Rhinos have confirmed that forward Adam Cuthbertson will make his debut for the Rhinos in the traditional Tetley’s Festive Challenge clash against Wakefield Trinity Wildcats, which takes place on Boxing Day.

Cuthbertson is yet to arrive in England, and will start training with his new teammates on December 1. However, he will play in the first game of Leeds’ pre-season schedule against local rivals Wakefield, with the Rhinos expected to field a strong side for the game.

Only three Rhinos stars are away on international duty in the Four Nations, meaning that Leeds are likely to field a strong side for the game, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post. With Wakefield also set to field a number of debutants in the game, it means fans will be able to see a host of new and familiar faces taking part in the pre-season opener.

Ironically, Ian Kirke could make his debut for the Wildcats in the fixture – after joining James Webster’s side from Leeds, the side who he won five Grand Finals and a Challenge Cup with during an illustrious career at Headingley.

Other new faces that could feature include the likes of Lopini Paea and Matty Ashurst.

“The Boxing Day game is always a great family occasion,” Leeds chief executive Gary Hetherington said.

“Having received feedback from our Fans Forum we have looked to put in a place a pricing structure that is attractive to members and non-members. With ourselves and Wakefield looking to field strong teams, I cannot think of a better value for money day out for all the family over the Christmas period and I hope the fans turn out in great numbers.

“As usual, it will be chance for both sets of fans to see some new faces for the first time in their club colours and with child entry for just £5 and families able to all come for just £40 it promises to be another Festive cracker.”
