Danny Kirmond back for Wakefield on Sunday

Wakefield Trinity Wildcats coach Brian Smith has revealed it was a shock to see Danny Kirmond back ready for action so soon after he was named in his squad for Sunday’s trip to Sheffield.

The Wildcats captain was feared to have played his last game of the season after an elbow injury – but he is back and ready for selection.

Previously suspended duo Reece Lyne and Scott Anderson have also handed Smith a big boost after being made available for selection again – and they’re both in his 19-man squad for the game.

“We are really keen to do well again this weekend and back up what we did against Halifax and finish the qualifying rounds with two wins, if we can do that then we can go into the final game with some confidence,” said Smith.

“In terms of the squad, we have gone from having 14 unavailable last week to having only nine this week; there are five guys back and available for selection. Scott, Reece and Danny have all been named. It was a big of a shock with having Danny back, if he does get a run out that will be helpful for selection in the bug game the following week.”
