WAKEFIELD TRINITY coach Daryl Powell declared the 25-18 victory over Warrington Wolves as “massive” as his team readies for the play-offs.
Trinity showed character to fight back and get the result, which means they would need to suffer a heavy defeat at Leigh Leopards next Friday to miss out on a home eliminator.
“It was a high-quality game, pretty hectic in the first half,” Powell said.
“We didn’t finish our sets well enough in good attacking positions. We started the second half how we wanted to play.
“It’s a massive win for us, I thought it was a great game.
“Sometimes having tough games like that gives you strength. We’ve got a strong chance to finish fourth now.”
Powell praised the efforts of Isaiah Vagana, who claimed a brace on his return from a shoulder injury.
“Isaiah probably needed a break, the injury probably did him good,” he said.
“He looked refreshed today, he was high energy, he’s a big body and hard to handle. He’s been a try-scoring machine of late.”
