Double injury blow for Warrington Wolves

Warrington Wolves have been handed a double blow on the injury front, as two of their key players look set for spells on the sidelines.

Co-captain Michael Monaghan is out for up to five weeks with a torn calf muscle, whilst scrum-half Richie Myler has further compounded the Wolves’ woe, as he has been ruled out for three weeks of action. The 24-year-old requires an ankle operation.

“Richie has got a little bit of floating bone in his ankle so hopefully just a tidy up and nothing too much more sinister than that,” Tony Smith said.

“Mike has got a tear in his calf muscle but it’s probably not as bad as first feared. We think four or five weeks.”

Smith added: “We thought he (Monaghan) was going to be out seven or eight weeks but we should be getting him back sooner.

“He (Myler) will hopefully be a two-to-three week recovery.”
