SWINTON LIONS prop Jordan Brown, who is fresh from signing a one-year contract extension, has been handed an eight-match ban.
The 26-year-old pleaded guilty to a grade F punching charge after being red carded for his part in a brawl at the end of the Championship clash at London Broncos last month.
His sanction, which included 43 penalty points and a £250 fine, was handed out by an RFL operational rules tribunal.
That was just days after Brown put pen to paper on a new deal with Swinton, who finished 17th in the second tier.
He is in his second spell at Heywood Road, initially joining from Widnes ahead of the 2021 campaign.
After a stint with the old Salford, spent in their Reserves, he returned to Swinton in June 2024, and has made 48 appearances for the club overall.
“Jordan was someone we were really keen to retain,” said coach Anthony Murray of the once-Warrington Academy player.
“It was important for us to re-sign the stand-out performers from last season, and Jordan certainly put in some big performances which contributed to some of our wins.
“As a club, we want to retain and build around players who have the right attitude, work ethic and desire to improve, and Jordan has all of those qualities.”
Brown’s fellow frontrower Ben Killan has also agreed a contract extension for 2027.
Huddersfield Academy product Killan was recruited from Rochdale ahead of the season just finished.
