England head coach Steve McNamara has confirmed that his side will not play a warm-up game in the lead up to the Four Nations, meaning they will go almost a year without playing together.
After last year’s World Cup exit to New Zealand, McNamara’s side have been unable to play a mid-season game in 2014. And, speaking to reporters at England’s mid-season training camp, the England boss admits they will not have time for a clash.
“It’s more important for us at that stage to be preparing for that round one game against Samoa. We simply won’t have time for a warm-up game,” McNamara said.
“We’ve one less week than the others to prepare for it, but we know there is limited time at end of the season.”
