Warrington Wolves forward Anthony England went before an independent disciplinary tribunal this evening having been charged with the Grade E offence of spitting at an opponent in the 45th minute of the First Utility Super League Round 18 fixture against Huddersfield Giants played on Sunday June 14.
He has been handed a 4-match ban and a £300 fine for the offence.
Karl Fitzpatrick, Wolves’ Football Manager, said: “As a club we support the disciplinary action taken by the RFL in this instance. This behaviour is totally unacceptable and goes against the spirit of our club and the game. Anthony admits this was wholly inappropriate and has apologised for his actions.”
Anthony added: “I fully accept the suspension handed down by the judiciary. I’d like to apologise to Danny Brough, my club and all our supporters. It happened in the heat of the moment and is something I completely regret.”
