FORMER Castleford Tigers hooker Judah Rimbu is set to land his first NRL deal – a train-and-trial contract with Perth Bears.
Rimbu has signed with Brisbane Tigers for next season from fellow Queensland Cup side PNG Hunters, whom he joined after being released by Castleford in June.
Brisbane Tigers have become a feeder club for Perth Bears, who will enter the NRL in 2027.
According to The Mole at the Wide World of Sports, Rimbu will play for the Brisbane outfit in 2026 before linking up with the Bears in 2027 in the hope of landing a full-time deal.
The PNG international, who has been capped six times, initially joined the Tigers on a two-year deal ahead of the 2025 campaign.
However, Rimbu would play just ten times before departing to link up again with the Hunters, his first club.
Rimbu made 78 appearances for the Hunters between 2021 and 2025, scoring 25 tries and kicking 11 goals.
