FORMER Catalans Dragons winger Fouad Yaha has revealed he turned down a Super League move in favour of linking up with former teammate Tony Gigot at Albi.
Yaha registered 108 tries in 177 appearances for the Dragons during an 11-year stay at the Stade Gilbert Brutus.
However, his last few seasons at the French club were inconsistent, with injuries and form letting Yaha down at times.
With the 29-year-old out of contract at the end of the 2025 Super League season, the French international left for pastures new in his home nation with Super XIII side Albi.
At Albi, Yaha will reunite with Gigot after turning down a move to England.
The 29-year-old said: “I was talking with a few players there are lots of players who have been through here.
“Then Tony, since he was becoming coach, we talked and I needed to think. I also had him on the phone several times and then I made, I made a decision not to go to England and to come and do a season here, to enjoy myself, play as much as possible and give my all.
Yaha did, however, leave the door open for a return to Super League later in his career.
He added: “I feel good here so there will be no reason for me not to spend a few years here.
“After that, I have the goal of playing in the World Cup.
“I think that once I finish my contract at the end of the season, I could go to the Super League or the Championship or Australia to play and to be able to play in the World Cup. Of course, if I am selected.”
