FORMER HUDDERSFIELD GIANTS outside back Aidan McGowan has signed for Newcastle Thunder.
Released by the Giants at the end of the 2025 Super League season, the 23-year-old adds to the plethora of signings already made by the north east club ahead of the 2026 Championship campaign.
Having come through the ranks at Huddersfield, McGowan went on to debut in July 2024 against Warrington Wolves and made 17 appearances for the Giants in total, scoring three tries.
But, the Ireland international spent most of his time at the Giants on loan or dual registration at other clubs, including York, Batley Bulldogs and Bradford Bulls.
Now McGowan will link up with Thunder with head coach Graham Steadman saying: “His exposure to the elite level of the game will be a major asset as the club continues to build a competitive group capable of challenging in the Championship.”
Newcastle have also signed forwards Brenden Santi and Jack Brown from close partners York.
