York Knights bring young trio back to club

YORK KNIGHTS have brought young trio Harvey Reynolds, Myles Harrison and Joe Law back to the club after a season with partners Newcastle Thunder.

All three had signed for the North East club, who earned a second-placed Championship finish before being defeated by Doncaster in the play-offs, but were given run-outs for the Knights across both Super League and the Challenge Cup.

Centre or second-rower Reynolds grabbed his opportunity in the top-flight with both hands, making four appearances before seeing his time with the Knights cut short after dislocating his elbow in the win at Castleford Tigers.

The former Hull KR academy product, who joined the club ahead of the 2024 season, scored on debut in the 114-10 1895 Cup win at Newcastle, going on to make 12 appearances that season and a further eleven in the 2025 double-winning campaign.

“Harvey was a bit unfortunate he got injured in his Super League appearance at Castleford,” said head coach Mark Applegarth, who believes the forward has only shown a glimpse of what he can do for the Knights.

“I think he’d have taken his chance and strung a few games together.

“He’s a really good kid who has got a level head on him, and I really think he’s going to kick on again this year.”

Utility back Harrison is back with his hometown club, having come through the ranks at community club Heworth before making the step up with York in 2021.

He made three appearances on loan for the Knights last season, including scoring and converting his own try in the Challenge Cup quarter-final defeat to Hull KR, taking him past a half-century of appearances for the club.

“Myles is a kid that’s got the heart of a lion and if you cut him in half he bleeds York through and through,” said Applegarth of the 23-year-old, who scored six tries and 107 goals for Thunder last season.

“He can play a number of positions to a really good standard which is obviously a big strength but we really want to specialise him a little bit so he can really get his teeth into something.”

Meanwhile Law, who made the permanent move to York ahead of the 2025 season after a prolific loan from Wakefield Trinity and was also given a run-out against the Robins, scored eight tries in 15 appearances for Newcastle.

“Joe has got great athletic potential and a really good IQ, how he understands the game,” explained Applegarth.
“Fingers crossed he’ll get a bit of luck on his side this year with injuries and he’ll put some games together and show everybody what he’s about because he’s got some lovely attributes that suit top level rugby league.”
