FORMER Huddersfield Giants hooker Thomas Deakin has served a three-month drugs ban after being found to have taken cocaine.
The positive sample was collected at Huddersfield’s Super League defeat at home to Catalans Dragons in April, when Deakin was an unused 18th man.
UK Anti-Doping said the 23-year-old admitted to ingesting cocaine within a social setting the day before the match.
Deakin was released by Huddersfield in May and his ban from all forms of sport finished in August, meaning he can now resume his career.
Originally from Oldham before moving to Australia as a child, Deakin joined Huddersfield from Sydney Roosters ahead of the 2024 season.
He featured eleven times for the Giants’ first team including three appearances last season, the last of them against Hull KR at the end of March.
At the time of his release, Huddersfield head coach Luke Robinson said: “He’s got personal issues that he needs to deal with away from rugby.
“He and the club have parted ways so he can deal with them.”
