Salford owner Marwan Koukash made it abundantly clear this week that he is calling on the support of his fellow Super League chairmen to try and force a breakaway from the RFL: and this Monday’s League Express will provide a complete update on the situation.
However, we can reveal on TotalRL.com that a number of Super League sides have already indicated to us that they would not be willing to part of such a bold move.
We will not reveal the identities of the clubs until Monday’s League Express, but there are a number of clubs – more than the two previously believed to be against the idea – who have said no.
It makes Koukash’s bid to gain a majority vote a difficult one for sure, and we are aiming to have the stance of each and every one of the 11 clubs the Salford owner is trying to get on side by the time Monday’s paper goes to print.
But for now, we can tell you that of the clubs we have spoken to thus far, a fair chunk of them are opposed to the plan.
