Fax secure Castleford forward on loan

Halifax RLFC have completed the signing of prop Ryan Boyle on a season-long loan deal from Castleford Tigers.

The former Salford forward is Richard Marshall’s second loan signing in just over a week, with Boyle joining Matt Sarsfield in joining the Championship club.28 year-old brings a wealth of Super League experience to the MBi Shay.

The 28-year-old has made six appearances for Castleford this season, and will be available for selection when Fax face Featherstone at the Summer Bash next week, but will not feature in the club’s game against Oldham tonight.

Head coach Richard Marshall said: “Ryan is an experienced Super League player. Whilst we have that experience in the squad already, I think he will complement our own players.

“The reports I have, tell me that Ryan is a very good professional. We look forward to him enhancing our environment. We lack a little bit of experience in certain areas. The pack hold their own, but it’s important we strengthen in that area.”

Castleford Tigers head coach Daryl Powell said on the move: “This is a great opportunity for Ryan Boyle, to go out on loan initially for a month, and get some game time with a very good Championship team.

“Halifax are competing at the top end of the Championship, I know Richard Marshall well, and Ryan will get quality coaching as well as competitive game time at Halifax.”
