Another Super League round passes by, and another embarrassing performance on show from the Salford Red Devils at the Magic Weekend as they failed to slay the Dragons, suffering a 12 – 26 defeat.
During the game, the Sky commentators described Salford’s tactics and play as ‘one dimensional’. Looking at their previous performances it’s hard to disagree. After the game head coach Ian Watson spoke of his frustration on how during training the Devils play some eye-catching rugby but during a game that style has gone completely out of the window.
The fixtures don’t come any easier unfortunately as their next tie is a home game against 9th place Huddersfield Giants who currently sit one point behind Salford after winning three consecutive games, whereas Salford have lost major ground on the top eight, losing their last 3 Super League games.
Under fire halfback Jack Littlejohn and Lama Tasi have both been dropped for this weekend’s fixture against the Giants whilst Ben Nakubuwai and Jake Shorrocks replace them in the 19 man squad.
This game is looking extremely one-sided and the Giants halfback Danny Brough could have a field day against a depleted Devils side.
My Prediction: Salford Red Devils 8-24 Huddersfield Giants
