Fax welcome return of captain

Halifax have been handed a major boost ahead of the Easter period, with captain Scott Murrell back in contention.

Murrell is expected to go straight back into the team to face Oldham on Friday after recovering from plastic surgery on his thumb.

The 30-year-old has missed the last two matches after suffering the injury in defeat to league leaders London, but speaking to the Halifax Courier, head coach Richard Marshall confirmed he will play on Good Friday.

“Scott’s finger is still a bit sore and swollen, but he can catch and pass and he’ll play,”“I don’t like talking about the idea of ‘must win’ games, but there are some games that are important and you want players like Scott available for those.

“He knows exactly what I want as a coach; it’s like having another me on the field. He’s positive and encouraging, but he’ll make sure everyone is pulling their weight.”

Fax are eighth in the Championship having lost four of their six Championship games so far. Following Oldham, Fax take on rivals Bradford Bulls this Monday.
