Fifita ready for explosive Wakefield debut

He has only been in the country a matter of days – but new Wakefield signing David Fifita has admitted he’s been prepped about what to expect on his Super League debut tonight.

Fifita is expected to play some part as Wakefield host West Yorkshire rivals Leeds in an explosive derby which could have huge ramifications for both teams.

A win for Wakey would see them move to within touching distance of a top eight spot, whilst defeat for Leeds would definitely consign them to the bottom four.

And Fifita told TotalRL that he’s been approached by a few people around the streets of Wakefield already – who have told him what to expect and how to perform tonight!

“I’ve been briefed and told it’s a big derby match,” he said.

“There’s been a few fans coming up to me on the streets telling me to take it to them so I know what to expect! It seems any team can be good on their day over here but I know our boys are ready for the game – we’ll take it to them.”

Fifita admits he’s not too sure about the style of play Super League provides – but says he’ll give everything he’s got tonight as he anticipates a hostile welcome from the Rhinos.

He said: “I don’t know much about Super League!

“I’m just getting ready to take to the field and get ripped in! I’ll be a target I know that; I haven’t played for five weeks and I’m just looking to get my fitness built up and do the dirty work for the team. I’m a team player in my opinion so I’ll do my best for the blokes I’m working with.
