Three new signings at Salford and Finley Yates among four to return

SALFORD have added Hull FC prop Owen Haldenby and Midlands Hurricanes winger Joe Hartley for the upcoming season.

They have also signed Oscar Hansen from community side Leigh East and four players who were part of the old Red Devils set-up, taking them to 15 squad members.

Finley Yates, Jack Gatcliffe, Josh Wagstaffe and Lewis Pilling have all joined the new club.

Welsh international hooker Yates made played six Super League games last year while outside backs Gatcliffe and Wagstaffe added one and three appearances respectively to their Salford debuts the previous season.

Pilling, meanwhile, is a halfback who was part of the Red Devils’ academy.

Haldenby was released by Hull, where he came through the academy, at the end of last season without making a first-team appearance.

Hartley has 57 professional games under his belt, after spending three years with Oldham then one each with Rochdale Hornets and Midlands Hurricanes.

He only featured once for Midlands, however, and finished last year on loan at Whitehaven.

Hansen, the son of former Widnes Vikings and Tonga forward Lee Hansen, has previously featured for Leigh Leopards’ reserve side.

Eight players were announced by the new club on Thursday, six of whom – Sam Hill, Charlie Glover, Noah Appleby, Cole Appleby, Jacob Andrews-Smith and Leunbou Bardyel-Wells – were also previously at the Red Devils.

Ollie Garmston has joined from St Helens and former Salford City Roosters man Damola Lola is also part of Mike Grady’s squad as they prepare for the Championship opener at home to Oldham next Friday (January 16).
