First half was “disgraceful”, says Anderson

Huddersfield Giants coach Paul Anderson offered a scathing assessment of his side’s first half performance against Leeds on Thursday night – calling it “disgraceful”.

The Giants found themselves 22-6 down at one point through the first period, before fighting back to lead 24-22 with just minutes left before Leeds eventually tied matters up at 24-24.

And although Anderson was impressed with the way his side fought back, the first half left a sour taste in his mouth.

“I thought we should have won,” insisted Anderson. “I’m disappointed with the first half; I thought it was disgraceful from us.

“It’s the first time this year we’ve challenged their effort. Some of them took what we said at half-time on board and moved it forward, which is pleasing.

“We’ll obviously be looking for a repeat of what we saw rom the side in the second half, because that’s when we showed everyone what we’re capable of doing.”
