On this day in RL history...
sheddingswasus replied to The Hallucinating Goose's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
Today in 1980, Oldham beat Hull 2-1 at the old Watersheddings ground! -
That was a different match . I think Coolie is Dewsbury or Wakefield fan
-
Sean Long said a lot were due to interpretation of new laws

If you can get a copy there are quite a few Oldham v Rochdale matches featured in the Heritage Trust book “Watersheddings Memories “ Also, take a look at the Photo Archive on the Oldham RL Hetitage Trust site. There are also all the match programmes. https://orl-heritagetrust.org.uk/ Hope it is of some use.

Tackle height law change confirmed

But they generally are. We all know the same suspects who go in high. It’s not accidental. They are deliberate actions to take an opponent out of the game. -
Tackle height law change confirmed

I want to go and watch a game if RL with fantastic handing and running skills on show. I want to watch superb tackles. What I don’t want to watch is superb athletes and showmen being carried off the field like punch drunk boxers. We were all taught to ride the tackle and relax as we hit the ground. What we can’t do to protect our heads and necks ( which are perhaps the most vulnerable parts of our bodies) from the head hunters who make up for lack of skill with acts of thuggery. Getting ride of thugs should be priority! -
Don’t think so. Sure the Chaplehow twins were 27 & 28

At the fans forum they read out the names numbered 1-28. If you play the video back you will hear it. May not be the official numbers though.

Some good video of the lads training this week on the channel
-
It is the earliest footage. It is from the Mitchell and Kenyon collection

Which classic matches would you like to see on there?
-
At the end of the day the team failed to win promotion and therefore proved to be not good enough. I have nothing against any of the players who left and I enjoyed watching them. I wish them all well at their new clubs. But I also want to see Oldham back where they belong at the top end of the RL ladder.

How many of you watch this in YouTube? There are some great old games and interviews on there. More importantly, the club need people to subscribe to the channel (totally free). They currently have 398 subscribers. When they get to 1000, and get 4000 hours views, the club can monitarise it and get some income. Helps the clubs coffers and helps with the IMG ratings

The full team!

Back in my time the support from the Waterhead lads on the terraces was immence. Still see a lot of the lads at matches. Hopefully they will let the last 25 years go and realise what good times we have round the corner.

Matt Wilkinson has signed for Rochdale

Some brilliant offers this year and concessions are back !
sheddingswasus replied to Joe 90's topic in Rochdale Hornets
So Rochdale will have to pay Oldham from their season ticket money
