  1. The grand renaming of a stand that is not going to be open?? Can only be Dewsbury
  2. There are no easy games in the Championship and as Swinton’s recent victory away to Toulouse proves anyone can beat anyone on the day. The most important thing is that we stay in the fight or arm wrestle as they call it these days for as long as we can in each and every game. Just as we did against Batley. Even against Widnes (with our missing players) we weren’t out of it at half time. The concession of the early 2nd half try and then us missing a kick to touch from a penalty (they scored with that possession) was really poor and sealed the defeat. It will be equally as tough against Barrow on Sunday but winnable if the attitude is right.
  3. We haven’t managed to score more than 14 points in a game so far this season and Restall was our biggest attacking threat last season. So agree on the above. I would hope to see him back in the team for Batley match.
  4. We signed him as a full back and he did a job for us at 7. We got away with it in league 1 and did well to win the competition but we do need a bit more from a half back in the Championship. Some good effort on show today but have a feeling our season may well be determined by who we get on loan from the Giants and the strength of that agreement as the Season develops
  5. Who owns the ground BSJ? Is it not MS and the other Directors?
  6. Not a bad tie. Better than one of the Cumbrian teams away from home.
  7. I know someone was asking on the message board the other day about the various records Paul is in the running for in terms of longevity in RL but could he be the most sin-binned man in RL too??
  8. We all knew it was going to be hard season but the manner of the defeat at League 1 Keighley is very worrying. If Keighley can beat us by circa 30 points then what will the likes of Bradford and Trinity do to us? The players we've signed are all young lads from SL Academy teams and players from the Amateur game. We haven't signed any tried and tested Championship players to compliment them and the younger lads from last years League 1 side. This is presumably down to wage constraints. Plan B will likely to lean on Huddersfield Giants to loan their fringe players in the coming weeks which brings with it, it's own problems of our own players becoming disillusioned. I hope yesterdays result can promote a reaction from the team against Bradford next week as we didn't play too badly against Batley and Fev in pre season.
  9. I’m sure we’d of found a spot for him somewhere. So presuming we only get Dual reg players from the Gisnts when there is no loan fee involved? I can’t see what the problem was with the old loan system tbh. We’ve had deals with Hull KR, Wakefield and now Huddersfield over the last decade or so and I can’t really say any of them have been worthwhile. I’m not sure how good the lads are that we’ve signed from the amateur scene are, but at least it feels a though they are our players and hopefully will have a point to prove and some pride in the shirt.
  10. Nice to see our dual registration deal with the Giants paying dividends with Aidan McGowan signing on a season long loan deal (with the Bulls).
  11. Match against Leeds. Eddie Rombo playing for Leeds…
  12. We were giving them a good game upto that point. But it was good to see Jason Ramshaw put on his backside! If you cut and paste the URL from YouTube into the page it automatically creates a link. The ones I’ve linked to were posted by a guy called Paul Hicks ( not sure if it could be the prop that played for us in the early 2000’s?). Must have taken a good while to convert from VHS to online - fair play to him! This is a link to his homepage with loads of other RL videos from a similar period https://www.youtube.com/@paulkyffin
  13. A few more that have been posted too including a 12-12 draw against St Helens no less.
  14. Richie Myler has signed for York today too.
  15. Just watched this game that someone has posted on YouTube from the 93/94 season. A good watch and arguably better to watch than today’s game.
  16. On field is all that matters to me. I couldn’t care less what the stadium facilities are like at any given club. The box ticking exercises in sport is just how things have gone. Will the IMG tinkering really make me enjoy the game better than when I first started watching in the 1980’s?? I very much doubt it.
  17. They would have if they had been enforced properly. Chucking out Trinity and Cas for not updating their grounds would have done the trick IMO.
  18. IMG have used a sledgehammer to crack a nut. A simple reaffirmation of minimum standards for entry to SL would have done the trick. The time they have spent fannying around with this should have been spent on marketing of the game which is where the games biggest problem lies.
  19. On first inspection our IMG ranking doesn’t look great been ranked 27/35 and behind the likes of Swinton, Oldham and Batley. However at least we will know what we need to do to improve “If” we want to progress in the box ticking / spreadsheet era of RL If not as SS has said we should at least be able to enjoy some decent attendances and bar takings for at least one season. Hopefully we will have a committed and competitive team that we can all get behind.

Didn’t see Dale Ferguson being appointed but good luck to him. Hope he can build a good competitive squad for next year.
  21. Got to agree with this post. It’s the forgotten division and proven by the lack of a trophy at our last home game. It’s a real shame for the traditional clubs like Workington, Hunslet and Oldham who we’ve had some good battles with this year. As has been said before a big division of Champ and a league 1 clubs I think is the way to go. I’m glad we’ve won the division and back up in the Championship however with the likely departure of the coach there is certainly not euphoria more a feeling of job done and back to where we were at the beginning of last season. There has been no statement from the club to dampen the speculation but it seems inevitable that there will be a press release on the Monday after the Doncaster game confirming his departure. Then shortly after a post on here with likely runners and riders for his replacement. I’m sure the clubs rigorous recruitment process is well underway though and is close to securing Wayne Bennett on a short term deal to to finish off Sykes’s coaching education before we take the 2024 championship by storm!.
  22. Derek Beaumont at Leigh or Simon Moran at Warrington are the ones that spring to mind as sugar daddies at the present time. Not sure on expenditure but must be many hundreds of thousands. Not overly keen on Derek but must be an exciting time for Leigh fans at the minute.
  23. Is an assistants job in SL better than being Halifax’s head coach?
  24. If he does go to Halifax he will most likely have a bigger budget to spend on players but realistically no chance of getting them into SL and in a few years time (with a degree of success - top 3 finishes / wembley) he will be looking for another opportunity coming up at Wakey / Cas / Fev or one of SL’s other basement dwellers. It would be a shame if he doesn’t stay for another season but until we get a sugar daddy chairman then I guess thats the way it is.
  25. To be fair the penalty awarded near the end of the game wasn’t a gimme by any means.
