  1. The documentary was a great watch (as I knew it would be) and this thread is similarly interesting. The French skipper is a proper inspiration, and didn’t necessarily seem to share the thoughts of his coaches with regards to the rule interpretations etc. It did strike me as though the French were just unhappy that they weren’t having it all their own way and almost akin to taking their ball home, although @gogledd’s viewpoint above is infinitely more informed than ours and a lot more measured compared to the rest of us! I must say that the RLWC Wheelchair final was one of the finest sporting spectacles I’ve ever attended and an experience that I’ll never forget.
  2. Already got two from Sky VIP, but the more the merrier! Maybe I’d have had more luck sat in the Bishops Blaize Wetherspoons!
  3. And taking a 16,000 hit on capacity in the process, even when the Etihad is expanded. I would like to think that the (eventual) 61,000 at the Etihad will still be considered too small for the Grand Final, and I don’t think we should underestimate the positive nature of that tbh. (Just to balance out a positive, I am currently sat in Tesco Cafe literally about 100 yards from OT and not once have I been offered a free ticket for tomorrow)
  4. Sporting Club St Helens didn’t exactly turn out well for St Helens Town FC. Sold their ground after being sold a dream of moving in to Knowsley Road and climbing the pyramid. They’ve now dropped out of the senior non-league system.
  5. My personal favourite is that Havant & Waterlooville play at Westleigh Park. Those familiar with the Westleigh area of Leigh (I live there, so I can say it) and Westleigh Park might smile at the thought of there being a ground built there. Might last a day or two before being arsoned.
  6. They really do have too many days out tbf (although a much bigger base to work from, and one where they aren’t even bothered about watching the game)
  7. There’s a little more to it with Wigan as they fell out with the stadium selling away tickets and now do it through their club shop etc, plus the previous ticketing contracts fell once Latics were in administration Worth noting that Hull FC - in a similar position to Wigan in terms of home & away ticketing - decided they were incapable of selling any tickets at all for Wembley the other year
  8. Just seen someone in an RFL lanyard chasing round Tesco Stretford on the hunt for Ferraro Rocher
  9. There have been a few occasions where Wigan haven’t filled their 10,000 allocation. Mainly because they’d generally only go on general sale on the Tuesday, by which point any non-season ticket holders have already bought through the RFL. The interesting twist this time around is that they didn’t give any priority to season ticket holders.
  10. First time I’ve had that error tbh in years of using the RFL system and similarly using the same system with Bolton at least twice a month.
  11. It may have escaped your attention, but they aren’t being chucked in to SL, they’re earning it on the field.
  12. Add a third one, then delete it when it comes up with your basket and go to proceed to checkout. Worked for me.
  13. Because the cup final was the one day out in those pre Catalans, Magic and Grand Final days
  14. Tbf I believe it’s mainly because their online system is hopeless
  15. I had a problem when buying tickets for the Tonga game at St Helens. 9 in my basket but kept coming up with unexpected error. The error was to add a tenth ticket to my basket then take it back out and it let me go to check out.
  16. Because we’re expecting the same people to fork out hundreds of pounds to attend games as neutrals as we’re also expecting to pay for season tickets, go to Magic Weekend, go to Catalans, go to the England games etc
  17. If there were only a handful of rugby league games played in the UK each year then I reckon we’d give it a fair shift at selling out, too.
  18. Correct https://amp.theguardian.com/football/2013/apr/12/manchester-united-attendances-police-figures
  19. About as many times as I’ve posted that there is zero protocol for announces attendances, so the clubs, RL Commerical, RLWC, whoever, can announce whatever they like. Some use actual attendance, some use tickets sold, some just make it up on the spot. The bizarre bit is when previous audits have been done, these have been based on the announced attendance and not the actual attendance or sales, when all they need to do is log on to the centralised safety officer submissions and see the proper figures.
  20. For the sake of balance, I feel it’s my duty to point out that the taxman looks at the gate receipts rather than the announced attendance figure.
  21. a) Not a chance. I wouldn’t be against a move to the Etihad when the expansion is completed, but Manchester is perfect logistically for a short-notice Saturday night game b) Leave that for another thread
