  1. We could even do it with a draw with Oldham. I can see finding a date for the Skolars game ( and for the postponed Oldham v Workington game) is not easy. I wonder what sort of a team winless London would put out for a long midweek trip up north with nothing significant to play for. Not out of the realms of possibility that RFL wait until after the Oldham game to see if the Skolars game has any significance for the play offs. If we were to lose against Oldham might they just cancel the game I wonder. If we do lose to Oldham (heavens forbid) and Cornwall lose to Doncaster, we will already face the long trip to Cornwall with nothing to play for but pride.
  2. The Dolphins are located in league-crazy Queensland though. Perth is Aussie rules crazy….two top level teams who both pull in large crowds at the massive optus stadium and a thriving state league. I am not suggesting it shouldnt be located there…just keeping my feet on the ground about the crowds on a week to week basis. It would be important to avoid fixture clashes with the AFL teams….but AFL goes out of its way to plan these it seems sometimes (see recent fixture clashes in Queensland). They delay announcing the draw until after NRL draw announced and dont set day and time of each rounds games for second half of season until well into the season. Time difference and TV schedules dont give much leeway in fixing kick off times. 8 pm on east coast (prime time TV game) is 6pm in Perth and NRL is unlikely to want them for the prime time slot most weeks. So most games would likely be kicking off between 2 and 4 pm Saturday or Sunday which are the least popular start times for most teams.
  3. Jim Hamilton and Paul Gamble were named in the programme as props in the starting line up..
  4. One problem with creating a new team in Perth is the fans there have been used to seeing only the very best when fed Origin every other year. When they come and see an expansion team, particularly one that loses more than it wins, they might drop off and return to their other weekend sporting activities (= AFL and WAFL). NRL on a week by week basis is not like Origin
  5. Yes good luck indeed…we all want the same thing…an Hornets win. Now HHHorneet has a post about the positive things the chairman is doing and HG replies to “Andy”. Onward Hornets Onward
  6. No bitterness here…just a mind of my own. So are you Israel Folau?
  7. Wow….there are a lot of people you dont like aren’t there? And you think I am bitter….amaze ing. You are not Israel Folau by any chance are you….he has problems with people and his list could bear a close correspondence with yours.
  8. More thoughtful comments…keep them coming. While you are attacking me you are not attacking former players dealing with serious health issues.
  9. More name calling…….what can I say. Where have you been the last 50 years….or the last 50 weeks for that matter. If you bothered to read the posts, on two occasions this week I have commended things happening at Hornets currently. Still I expect you want me banned soon for questioning things that I dont think reflect well on the club. Please go ahead.
  10. Those Australians pulled out again did they?
  11. Wow…where did that Titans effort come from….one of the best games of the season and night and day compared to the games under Holbrook. A great win over the cowboys last week and a magnificent effort down to twelve men for most of the game against one of the form teams of the comp….and what a crowd for the 6pm friday game. That probably the largest crowd of the season for that timeslot.
  12. Broncos resting Reynolds as a precautionary measure…he is carrying a minor injury. Not good news just a month from the play offs…unless you are a potential opponent.
  13. Thanks for your thoughtful post, one of many you have posted over the last few days but few before that, at least under your current username. Always interesting when a poster reverts to personal attacks and name calling bordering on the same type of bullying that lies behind the call for banning ex players from the game. You are obviously among friends.
  14. Irrespective of what folks think of the merits of the claim, the idea that individuals should be banned from the game for pursuing their legal rights is something more associated with rugby union than with the league. It smacks of bullying to scare others who might be thinking of joining the action. Given the state of the game and our own club we should be making sure we are welcoming everyone to be part of it. I would dearly love the 125 ( or whatever number it is) to all become Hornets season ticket holders, but based on the original comments they would not be allowed to become part of the club. Very sad.
  15. Sad to read that the owner is urging that the RFL impose life bans on the 125 ex players involved in the proceedings about early onset dementia and CTE. There is at least one ex Hornet among them. These individuals are pursuing their legal rights and an independent judiciary will determine the outcome. No need for bullying and threats like this. Thats the sort of thing we expect from rugby union authorities.
  16. Or in Englands case, dont wish to lose to the rabble. The only team to beat them at T20 world cup was Ireland. Not for the first time they came unstuck against “the rabble”
  17. It is when it comes to government funding being sought to support sporting events.
  18. For a sport that has forever railed against players being blacklisted and banned by another sport for doing nothing illegal or immoral its rather ironic a club chairman should now be proposing the same for our own game.
  19. You wont get any arguments from me on that one. If anyone was to be banished from the game I know who would be top of my list.
  20. Lions tour 28 June to 2 August with tests at Lang Park, MCG and Olympic Stadium, Sydney. England tour will presumably be October/ early November
  21. And Lions tour of Australia…games, locations and dates already announced
  22. If these two were playing in my front yard I’d pull the curtains.
  23. It was only last week the NRL announced the location for the grand final in 8 weeks time. Rugby League Administrators don't like to rush these things.
  24. A long period between 50s and 80s when there were no teams west of Offa’s Dyke, so like a good breakfast it was full english. Or are you thinking east of the Pennines is the People’s Republic of Yorksher?
  25. Its Tommy Ridiculous…..Martin was back sub #14.
