  1. Got the first two Snakefinger albums on shuffle play. I blame gin.
  2. Performance Kitchen - Recipes from sportspeople, including RL players. Here's an example:
  3. This was the first one in this series that I've seen. Excellent stuff.
  4. We had a power cut! It was all rather Seventies. Everything went black last night at about 10:30pm and didn't come on again 'til 5:30am.
  5. The BBC covering several other stories too, because they, like most people, can focus on more than one subject a day. But the Oscars cock-up was an entertaining interlude in the news bulletins.
  6. Nine Deaths of the Ninja (1985) Two anti-terrorist agents are sent to free some hostages. Sounds like a sensible plot for an action movie, right? The Good Guys: Sho Kosugi - Eighties ninja-flick God. So he can pull a few strings and get bit-parts for his relatives. Shane Kosugi plays 'Shane', while Kane Kosugi plays 'Kane'. Brent Huff - The kind of all-American action hero you can find in the 'reduced' shelf at Costcutters. Always gets the girl(s). Emilia Crow - Blonde. Voluptuous. Reads lines badly. Vijay Amritraj - Former Tennis doubles champion turned actor, of sorts. The Bad Guys: Blackie Dammett - Anthony Kiedis' dad (yes, it is!) plays Alby the Cruel, in a sort of coke-fuelled and barely coherent hommage to Doctor Strangelove. He commands an army of rednecks and Nazi amazons. Regina Richardson - She (and her hair, which appears to make up about a third of her bodyweight) plays Alby's general, Honey Hump. Sonny Erang - Plays murderous strong-man Rahji. And looks like a hobo Manu Vatuvei. Sho plays Spike Shinobi, ace ninja secret agent, who does most of the hard work, although Steve (Brent Huff) does eventually get off his backside (or that of the latest girl to find herself falling for his oily charm) and wipe out a load of henchpersons with a totally kewl General Electric Minigun, like what Jesse Ventura had in 'Predator'. But Spike does most of the fighting, including being attacked in an art gallery by four kung fu dwarves. Speciality: nut shots. But first, there's the title sequence, in which Sho does this dry ice and slo-mo dance sequence with three women in leotards, which has nothing to do with the plot. Eventually Honey Hump flees in the face of superior firepower, Rahji eats a grenade and head villain Alby... well, he gets trampled to death by a team of Polo players. Standard come-uppance for the Bad Guy, then.
  7. Sometimes I include pieces of black pudding (or its Spanish cousin, morcilla*) in a stew. I've never boiled it whole on its own, but I have heard of it being done *There are different types, but I prefer the one with rice in the mix. It often also contains onion and a little paprika.
  8. Figgy Poppleton-Rice's 'clean eating' blog. Actually, a pretty funny spoof created by KFC... and not so different from the real ones out there..
  9. Former 'Willy Wonka' Ooma-Loompa, 'Star Wars' Jawa and trampolining weather presenter on L!ve TV, Rusty Goffe. Try to guess which instrument he'll play next.
  10. John Lennon, Julian Lennon and some young sitcom actors who we'd probably never hear of again...
  11. BT Sport to televise video game Football. I think this was mentioned in the Book of Revelations.
  12. I used to listen to music radio a lot, especially Radio Luxembourg, but I suffered a traumatic incident in the late Eighties. We lived on top of a hill, and a radio could pull in a lot of stations. One night, I was trawling the airwaves, looking for something to enjoy, and every pop music station was playing a Madonna single. My more or less complete conversion to speech radio dates from that horrific, stomach-churning moment. I listen to Radio 4, Radio 4 Extra, Radio 5 and the World Service a lot, plus Radio 3 for specific broadcasts whose listings catch my attention. If there's anything worth keeping, Squarepenguin's very useful get_iplayer software downloads it to my hard drive. get_iplayer from Squarepenguin I have tried audiobooks, but they have never really done it for me. The attention drifts. My last job saw me spending 3 hours a day (minimum) commuting, but it was mostly in empty trains, so I could read loads.
  13. I remember this from the Eighties, just as the creators must have remembered watching 'Blazing Saddles'.
  14. The new series of Mystery Science Theater 3000 (the first since 1999) starts on Netflix on the 14th of April!
  15. From Twitter. @TOwolfpack Photographer needed Thursday feb. 23rd at 12:30pm GMT at brighouse. Please send inquiries here, and/or to info@torontowolfpack.com. Cheers
  16. I've been enjoying Further back in Time for Dinner throughout the series. It is refreshing to see reality TV stars who aren't hyperactive, infantile attention seekers, but just a rather likeable and intelligent family, plus the ultra-competent hired help Debbie. A fine example of the 'edutainment' neologism.
  17. Absolute are part of Bauer Media, who recently had this DJ guide leaked. That deserves a rant of its own. Especially: "It's your job to share your music passion with your audience." followed by "Talk about your log as though you've hand-picked it yourself"
  18. Even worse, I had Leicester in an FA Cup sweepstake.
  19. I think Raiders can do better. At his best, he's a quick finisher, but he has limitations in his game. And his handling errors when Canberra got knocked out of the playoffs last year was like something out of a horror movie. Given last season's performances, I think they might be able to tempt a more effective winger than Lee if they put out feelers.
