  1. actually Wire once 2017 and leeds twice 2016 and 18 (neither were in it in 2015)
  2. we havent really got much choice in the matter on that front I dont think.. he has made such a massive set of changes we have to give him the benefit of the doubt otherwise why let him bring in so many players next year..
  3. not being difficult and think i may be missing what you mean as their finishing sports have been 1998 12th in a league of 12 (league expanded so didnt go down) 1999 14th/14 (league contracted shuddersfield merger) 2000 12/12 2001 12/12 (finally relegated) 2003 10/12 2004 7/12 2005 8/12 2006 9/12 2007 5/12 2008 10/12 2009 3/14 2010 5/14 2011 4/14 2012 7/14 2013 1/14 2014 3/14 2015 4/12 2016 12/12 (super 8s finished 3rd in middle 8s) 2017 8/12 2018 5/12 2019 10/12 2020 7/11 2021 9/12 so except for when they were kept in the league by the RFL selling out Gateshead and Sheffield I am not sure where they have been kept up.. unless there was something in the season that caused an issue.
  4. I'm happy with the fact that if you qualify for a passport, therefore the country is happy to take responsibility for you, then thats ok by me.. (not the biggest fan of residency but still).. you could maybe make them have the actual passport but thats a technicality
  5. funnily enough I said the exact same thing to some mates when he was appointed.. I like Powell but this stood out for me. Think i saw the same thing, he was basically saying that he was coming in with a vision and that people needed to buy into it etc... he can be a bit monotoned at times and it didnt come across that well to be honest. It almost struck me like Brian Clough walking into Leeds saying "put your medals in a draw"... (not that there are that many medals to put in a draw but you get the idea!)
  6. I dont disagree with you but i also get that with a new coach can come new philosophies that players just cant/wont buy into and therefore you move them on. Happens at many clubs in many sports. So i'm ok with a rebuild. But i totally agree the manner of this rebuild seems very strange, why not add to the team and move some on and gradually change it.. That said the way they have played this year has been atrocious and I just cannot get my head around why.
  7. which is why you only see it mentioned on this message board (maybe some more, i dont go on them) but i havent heard/seen it form the RFL, SL or IMG
  8. ah ok.. Gateshead had already gone by that point though. around 2010 they were getting into the playoffs.
  9. late 90s they were saved by a bit of expansion then the lovely RFL mergers which saw contraction but no need to promote. 4 years they finished bottom IIRC and only in the 4th did the RFL relent and let them go down. the end of crusaders was within licencing i think which saw Widnes come back in?
  10. around about the same time as people who live in glass houses stop throwing stones?
  11. you could narrow it down to International Rugby League in the 21st Century but not sure there would be enough to get 5 questions out of that!
  12. I recon he's got about 6 games next season to show that something has changed.. its baffling at the moment. I get the clear out and the change in personnel for next season but I would love to know what is going on to see the players leaving when they are.. and especially someone like Cooper when one of the big things we seem to be lacking is that go forward platform from the front row!
  13. Well its definitely an indictment on our education system
  14. Thats why Radley put his hand up for England.. he saw the difference it made when Knowles decided to play for England instead of Wales
  15. Dont feed them.. migrating to the country is apparently fine but having a parent from one is not... even though the rules say it is, and the fact he could get a british passport if he wanted one (he may well have one).. theyre on a wind up, or just is not very smart.. either way its not worth it.. if you ignore them they go away apparently.
  16. same here with my kids.. born and bred Sheffield but my wife is Irish.. my kids walk around in Ireland shirts, support Ireland and would happily play for Ireland, which way they would chose to go if it was a real live choice I really dont know.. and thats the crux.. when it is a real live choice (not commenting on someone else on a message board) what are the factors that actually go through your head?? I am sure likelihood to play is one and I dont blame them for that one little bit!
  17. you do realise we are a normal civilised (well east of the Pennines) country dont you? its not like releasing a zoo bread tiger back into the wild ffs!
  18. and is this different to normal when you're home for the weekend? and is it less grim when you are not home? just trying to find the common denominator
  19. just do it as the "war of the roses" and for anyone outside of Yorkshire and Lancashire you go down the list of supporters for each side in the war and they then fit under that... ie Duke of Gloucester supported the House of York so anyone from Gloucestershire plays for Yorkshire... anyone from Warwick can, of course, chose sides and even swap at half time if they so wish.... just for accuracy! OR.... We could play mid season internationals with France... just a thought..
  20. It’s not contentious.. don’t lift the player, job done. then let the RFL and the ref deal with feigning.. very easy
  21. No… because no one knew for certain what was wrong with miloudi,,, it’s preventative. The point is you cannot retrospectively undo the damage you have done to somebody just because you didn’t know then and there.. the punishment is harsh to stop them doing it in the first place. 1 incident of an opposition player misjudging it and picking up a very badly wounded player and making it worse just because they didn’t look badly injured will be 1 too many! why is it so hard just not to do it… most players manage this it’s just a few and they need to learn, sadly they will probably only learn by draconian punishments and hurting their wallet because they have been told already and haven’t stopped. once we’ve stamped out the needless stuff that can cause harm, then they need to look at the play acting, of course they do, but first players have to learn this isn’t right, it’s just more important that way round.
  22. Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens, Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens, Brown paper packages tied up with strings.... obvs
