  1. Probably the entire Olympic site - twice, on that one, which features the National Aquatics Centre alongside the velodrome and the stadium used for all national athletics events. Crystal Palace is the National Athletics Stadium which is no longer used as the national athletics stadium. For starters.
  2. It's another pathway to fan engagement as much as anything else.
  3. "It's discrimination against fast people" was my favourite genuine line about all of it. Like, mate, Hastings has had, at least three different courses but the course record covers all three. And it's a different length in the summer and the winter. And it's different again depending on whether Martin or Yoki puts down the halfway cone.
  4. Might make sense in an Australian one - the AFL has a draft combine.
  5. I believe they had to work through specific providers, didn’t they? Quite a lot of grumbling at National League level about a lot of what the league demands of its clubs and then how it doesn’t support them all equally anyway.
  6. I was about to protest and then I remember that London are actually in Super League this year. I didn’t think the reffing was great but have mellowed since the evening. Not sure how anyone can say with a straight face that it wasn’t an incredible occasion and a memorable, compelling contest.
  7. That would make sense given that there is pretty much 24/7 betting available on table tennis and it's a quick scoring sport. The Bet365 app I use(d) for NRL watching has games and markets all the time.
  8. Struggling to see the issue there.
  9. It's one that gets made a lot. And always presented as if it is evidence of weakness - as opposed to a really smart move (then not played as well as possible IMO) about accessing Northern Powerhouse funding in order to begin the process of an ambitious event. It was smart enough politically that the Tories committed to the Rugby League World Cup in their 2019 manifesto.
  10. Ghastly. Vile. How dare the government even think of supporting sports events.
  11. It's still the narrative being spun. Only the Great NRL and their $10m jolly can save us.
  12. We had another year of expenses and, for reasons I don't quite understand, RL attendances in general did not rise in line with those at other sports once restrictions came down.
  13. That's a far better financial position than I'd have expected - certainly given the mood music at the time. It's actually pretty decent. You could really build something special with that. So best not bother.
  14. Is this like how we were 'in conversations' with Dubai to host the RLWC?
  15. I saw them record two episodes at the London Palladium a lifetime ago (literally, it was just before Little Ginger was born and he's now technically Young Adult Ginger). There certainly haven't been many occasions when I have laughed so much.
  16. And this is why, for the bigger changes, it's all trialled in academy and community game first.
  17. His linkedin (sorry about that) says since June 2023. Before that Bedford Blues RU and before that Northampton RU.
  18. Genuine US broadcasts, which I assume this won't be, all have a lovely ticker across the bottom of the screen giving you scores and news updates from around the sporting world. In real time. They're great. Love them.
  19. I played that song on my walkman as I walked into the first successful job interview I had. I hadn't meant it for it to my pep talk but it became that.
  20. It's the League Cup. So, in the scheme of things, unimportant. That said, on the terms that it is of minimal importance, it mattered more to Chelsea and Chelsea had the stronger side on the day - and yet Liverpool won and deservedly so. I offer no conclusion beyond those observations.
  21. Steve Scanlan who couldn't find the money to run the Skolars in League 1?
