  1. Hear what you are saying Puk. But the counter argument is that we are also recruiting from above our current standing with the announcement of Richie Myler. So it's a bit from bag A and a bit from bag B but hopefully Hendo had identified the mix he wants in his squad for 2024. In the past few seasons we have had players come in from Superleague teams who haven't performed as their reputation would have suggested. And on the other hand one of last years standouts for me was Conor Fitzsimmons who came from Whitehaven. On balance, I'd rather we went with players who felt they had something to prove than those who have 'been there and done the lot'. Still a few announcements to come yet i feel so hopefully a few more forwards as you are quite right that that is where we are looking a little thin in depth.
  2. Maybe this will jog the memory
  3. If that were to happen I'd buy my season ticket all over again!!
  4. Just shows the strength of the Valks set up that the likes of the Rhinos are taking players from York. The ladies game is really on the up and isn't it nice to be sitting atop of the tree.
  5. With the obsession with attendances on here, surely it's obvious that we go with Only(home)Fans
  6. If we stop going they undoubtedly will. I've had my wobbles this season - especially as my dad can no longer attend due to ill health. But doing the ladies grand final with better half and kids in tow has made me think again. Hendo is putting together a solid looking squad that we know will give their all and, more importantly, play entertaining rugby. And as we move into a new era we have an owner that, on the face of it, has a sensible and sustainable visison for the club. And if nowt else, it's always worth turning up to the LNER to watch us beat them bloody Bulls for another season
  7. Wasn't PP still under contract? So will there be a fee involved? On another note, mixed feelings but overall I'll be sad to see him go. He had that unknown quality and could come off the bench to cause devastation out of nowhere and really lift a game. But, as a result, played short minutes and was missing for a large chunks of the season. If his fitness could be guaranteed then all good but after the season we have just had I can imagine that Hendo will be desperate for a bit of continuity from week to week.
  8. Never been happier to be wrong
  9. Couldn't agree more! Although the jungle drums say Santi's heart is set elsewhere. Hope the past few months have caused a rethink.
  10. Hell of a pack there already.
  11. Same here as will be working. Would be nice if these events could be streamed.

    Dilemma

Full game is now up on Bulls Youtube channel.
  13. Do the Valkyrie squad get any input from Andrew Henderson and the Knights squad in the other direction from Lindsay Anfield?

    Dilemma

The next couple of frames seem pretty clear to me. As Harrison is grounding the ball it's kick away. Look at Wallace's foot/leg and the direction of travel of the ball. And as for the lack of reaction - was that not more due to the fact the ref blew up almost immediately as, and fair play to the Bull's players who could immediately see that Harrison was in trouble, the concern was with the potential condition of the York player who'd taken a blow to the head.

    Dilemma

Have you watched the video? Definitely didn't throw the ball backwards. It was kicked out of his hands in the act of scoring. And I would imagine the reason York players had their heads in the hands is due to Harrison collecting a wallop to the head in the process.
  16. Nowt will beat picking up a photocopied team sheet as you walked through the turnstyle at Clarence Street. Then waiting in anticipation for the entrance of two star substitutes - A.N. Other & S.O. Else Great days
  17. Nowadays, she can
  18. Brilliant!
  19. One of the best aussies to pull on a York shirt. A true old school scrum half who seemingly could put boot to ball and deliver an inch perfect kick to wherever he like. Loved going and watching him play for Cas when he partnered up with Danny Orr in the late 90s. Under Stuart Raper that Cas team played some great rugby.
  20. Thanks Gav.
  21. Absolutely you're right that next year is the one that counts. I've always been an admirer of Hendo and his approach to how the game should be played so it'll be a whole new ball game when there are more of his choice in the squad.
  22. Aye you're right Gav. I was there when we were getting 200 through the gate and almost having as many put past on the pitch. But I can't help how I feel. And right now i don't feel in love with the game as much as i used to. And I appreciate that's not the club's doing. I probably just aint got used to having an empty seat next to me yet.
  23. Lost my way this year. My 6th decade of watching York RL through thick and thin, week in week out. Always went with my dad and, in recent years, with my other half. But my dad's been in hospital for a few months now and my love of the club, and to a degree rugby league, is slowly slipping away. Looking back, i can remember coming away from then LNER after our opener against Widnes and discussing with my dad how we were just a little bit away from being a competitive, entertaining team. And that's how it seems to have stayed all season long. Key players are always just a couple of weeks away. The club's off-pitch development is close to delivering real, concrete returns. The PR team always have exciting match themes and community link-ups that never materialise. And so it has gone on. Can't see myself attending another match this season unfortunately. Yet, like a love affair that you just can't give up on, I sincerely hope something pulls me back next season as this has been such a big part of my life for too long to give up now.
  24. It's almost like Fev don't want to go up
  25. Sorry, you're absolutely right. I meant Harris. And again i agree that there is far too much late stuff goes on after the try has been scored.
