  1. And the matter is dealt with. I don't feel the constant haranguing of refs on here contributes anything to the recruitment and retention of referees. Let's not even discuss the cess pit that Facebook can be. I know two former league refs who reffed at championship level about ten years ago. Both of whom gave it up for several reasons, both citing the constant abuse and lack of support as a result. Most refs ride it. Some don't. It reminded me of an on field comment of a ref I slated a plenty... "I may not be good lads, but I'm all you've got". A comment that struck a chord with me. Incidently, he quit league too and is now a billy big b'locks in rugby union. The refs in Union don't get anywhere near the grief.
  2. Fev played dews some years ago. We'd just gone a point in front with seconds left. Dews kicked off and the ball didn't go ten. Fev player picks the ball up... pen to dews. Thankfully Reynolds missed the kick. Should the fev player have been dropped? Ainscough for batley? Drop him? Hard missing the high ball in the 2010 final? Drop him? No to all. That is addressed behind the scenes. All of those examples weren't the first mistakes that those players will have made. Some balance needs to be applied. Moore and Child are two of the games better referees. I'm sure they will bounce back better for the experience and I'm confident their error has been addressed properly. Constantly having a pop at refs will never ever improve the situation
  3. Some are.... but its unusual for a player to be dropped for a single offence, no matter how defining the mistake was. Look at the reaction to mcdermott when he dropped Craig Hall and ousted chizzy. The fans went loopy. Yet a ref errs and its open season on the refs
  4. I take it you've been to the VH? Come and find me at the next game and I'll bore you rigid with our experience there a few years ago!
  5. It's a good job players aren't dropped after a mistake. None of us would have a game to watch. And.... referees are fallible. They are human. They are not perfect. It doesn't mean they are bent, sent to referee a club to ensure they lose etc etc. They do an increasingly difficult role in our game. Given the absolute vile sheeite I've heard some young (teenage) referees take, I'm amazed we have any referees in our game at all.
  6. I didn't realise. I left my job in wakey 8 years ago..... Best job ever
  7. If you're paying 500+, you're paying way too much. Even then, I'd still prefer Toulouse.
  8. Honestly, I'd take toulouse over wakey as a fixture anyway. But that's me. Other opinions are available.
  9. Le marché Victor Hugo, Toulouse... Or Wakey indoor market. Tough choice!!
  10. It won't be 14 teams. It's win the final or another championship season if we lose. Upside to losing is we play either toulouse or wakey. As a francophile I'd love it to be toulouse.... but, I hope its wakey and toulouse v fev is a SL fixture.
  11. I'm (kind of) following Barrow's resurgence. Another good but unsurprising win. York fax lose and as I type batley on the verge of being beaten.... all results going your way. Enjoy y'all
  12. It happens PH. It's happened as long as there's been folks with access to the Internet. It's all different colours of sheeite..... I can live wi it.
  13. Glyn Parker. Founder of Rawmarsh rufc and all round top bloke. Aged 53.
  14. Maybe. His sexuality is of absolutely no interest to me or any business of mine. As a prop at fev I think he was tripe. Absolute tripe.
  15. It's 49 yrs since my first game. I've seen better, but I've seen a whole lot worse too. Those season that lead to us being relegated to the ar se end of rugby. Jeez it was hard following fev through those years. It'll be reight.
  16. Might get Shaul over t'line. Be surprised if there's owt else..... but then being surprised is a common occurrence
  17. What a squeaker. Some of the games you lot have had this season have been immense and deserve capacity crowds Great result. Well done barrow....again!
  18. How many years does a team have to exists for it to become "a heartland"?
