  1. I got speaking to my father this morning and he was watching channel 9. He said the same thing as you about the commentators heralding the match throughout the game. It appears many in Sydney are saying the same thing. Channel 9… I listen to them as little as possible.
  2. In quoting you previously, I will give you the note that I was watching Foxtel coverage, not Channel 9. Had I been watching 9 coverage like you, perhaps… sorry, I mean, I certainly would have been equally upset with the commentary
  3. Yeah, I thought those two call outs y @Dunbarand @Nothus were a little petty. the game was definitely intense and that kick was definitely the biggest in history Sometime we need to give commentators liberty to big up an occasion.
  4. I see Nige has released a statement on the club twitter account. The accusation @Jughead is that he was confronted by fans outside his suite and after a brief engagement told them to “make an offer for the club” and said he would consider it, before turning around and drawing the curtains in his suite.
  5. Because I’m hoping for a bit more substance than what I heard from a friend of a friend.
  6. Not hearing very complementary things about Nigel’s response to fans following the game earlier in the week. Not sure if his response was warranted following the actions of the fans or not, but from what I hear, not the actions of a leader in love with the club. Does anybody know more about this?
  7. The Cheese should be ashamed of himself with that effort. He leapt off one leg to put himself in a dangerous position and now Fifita faces potential weeks out following the scrutiny of an inept judiciary panel.
  8. Those that think the poster is asking for Wales fixtures to be played in Wales are missing his point. The idea was to play Wales fixtures in the RL venues near the border. In saying that @Hello, I agree with some of the other posters here. Shelve the Wales fixtures as an introduction for you son (watch them on tv) and get yourself to one of the bigger England weekend fixtures to enjoy live.
  9. Sure, happy for them to do that too. Sadly, I expect neither those said nations or the IRL have the stomach for going up against the NRL and their clubs.
  10. I don’t know what you are arguing about. Yes I saw that. The bare basics of it all are, that 9 are offering to cash the NRL up to move back to Wednesdays. If the mid season Pacific Tests were so profitable (that you insinuated at the beginning that they were), then the NRL would have told 9 to shove it.
  11. Well, there are always benefits outside the financial. Perhaps the NRL considers the non-tangible gain is worth more than the financial loss? It’s feasible. * Edit note - I just saw the Bennet article. The NRL are not organising mid season tests moving forward. Looks like they weren’t profitable after all. I suppose now we really will get the opportunity for Tonga, Samoa, PNG, Fiji et al to organise their own post season fixtures and see how well they go.
  12. Good point Scubby. Even if the matches do make the NRL a profit after stadium costs and player payments, I have no problem with that. The NRL are a not for profit organisation that redistribute any positive cash back into the game anyway. I wonder if any of those nation’s, apart from New Zealand, would have the capability to organise those fixtures themselves and couple each match with the corporate nous required to make it work successfully and successively. I suspect not.
  13. I don’t know the answer to that Davo, but my suspicion is that the internationals were a loss making exercise.
  14. 165 x 130 Optus vs 155 x 135 SCG. Not as small as it is often credited with. That tightening width would seem to back your theory for the corners tightening on the edge.
  15. I highly doubt that. SCG is renowned for being a tiny playing ground. That is a very big oval.
  16. Funny enough, rectangular sports at that ground hold up very well. The playing area is flat rather than a dome and the stands are steep. There are no bad seats there.
  17. I think that criteria was scrapped a few years ago now. Cannot play for NZ or England, but can play for any other nation and still play SOO.
  18. You do know that the NRL pretty much funded this whole weekend don’t you? I wouldn’t say that falls into the category of contempt.
