  1. Harry Smith has missed 2 of the simplest kicks I've seen all year. Wigan desperately need a proper goal kicker
  2. Same here to be honest, wouldn't be in my first 17 but would be a handy squad player
  3. Another one for the Keighley rumour mill. Will have a very good team next year if these all come off.
  4. Agreed, when you look at the best clubs it's not just the head coach, it's the army of high quality back room staff including assistants, strength and conditioning coaches, physios, welfare officers etc. It's a mistake several championship clubs have made(including Leigh in the past) when moving to a full time operation.
  5. Whoever does get promoted(i'm not counting any chickens just yet) will have a lot to thank Toulouse for, as no matter how prepared a promoted club is in terms of finances available and players signed, you are completely on the back foot if the club in 11th knows they are safe 2/3+ months before the end of the year. I am pleased though that the appointment of Lam/Chester has brought a change in the recruitment strategy away from the 1 year deals where the coaching staff were basically given full license to recruit a SL squad from May 1st without penalty if we didn't go up. The 1 year deals might have been the safer option but ultimately you need a 3 year sustained push to avoid the yo-yo. This is probably the earliest we've ever recruited going into a season, it's 2 years late but we actually feel 'SL ready' now.
  6. Another one going, although i'm not sure how big a miss this one will be. His switch from wing to second row at Huddersfield seems to have put his career into a nosedive.
  7. Quite surprised by this considering the late season form, they were already on the back foot with regards to recruitment having secured SL status later than usual and you'd expect any incoming coach to want to make their own signings so could delay things further.
  8. I know Salford fans won't want to hear this, but if i was Saints i'd be looking at Paul Rowley as a potential candidate to replace him.
  9. If Macdonald does go to Leeds, then Ricky Leutele would be coming in and there is absolutely no contest in a choice between him and Mark Ioane.
  10. New twist in the Toby King/Jake Wardle saga and some interesting comments regarding the reluctance from Wire to let King go on a permanent deal. I'd previously assumed the loan to Wigan was down to the large contract King was on at Wire, it begs the question - are Wire holding on to King in case Powell gets the boot next year?
  11. Keighley putting together a strong team for next year.
  12. Because by the very definition, if a player is underperforming they are capable of more. Still boggles my mind that sports fans in 2022 are still don't know what 'form' is. edit - even more so a Saints fan, who had to endure much of the same team they have now looking like bang average plodders under Kieron Cunningham.
  13. Nothing Greenwood could do about that. It was a penalty, but no chance a card for either Levi or Greenwood.
  14. nah, not having that. Last thing we want is the sport turning into football with players play acting for penalties. It needs stamping out ASAP.
  15. This. Find it a bit funny seeing so many Warrington players being written off after a bad year with a coach not getting on with quite a few players leading to disruption. They finished 3rd in 2021 and don't just become bad players overnight. Wouldn't surprise me at all if he absolutely rips it up at Wigan next year
  16. Wire will want him out on a permanent. Issue will be the large wages Toby King is on at Wire which he'll be reluctant to give up and Wigan will likely be paying only a portion of these.
  17. He signed a massive deal at Warrington to the end of 2024 i think. I imagine there aren't any offers from clubs to match those wages he'll likely end up seeing out his contract on loan at other clubs. Does mean a portion of his wages will be counting on the cap for Wire next year.
  18. I presume that means Wardle is staying put at Warrington for next year then.
  19. I think any discussions about Leigh's spine have to include John Asiata, who is a top class ball handling 13
  20. If you are going to label something as nonsense, you probably shouldn't immediately follow it with a question like this, unless of course you'd like to put a case together than there isn't a single player at Hull KR, Hull FC, Warrington, Castleford or Wakefield that is good enough to get into a top 6 club. That truly would be nonsense wouldn't it..
  21. Doubtful, especially in 2019 when we were rebuilding from a part time squad heavily propped up by St Helens DR
