  1. The question was directed at Leigh with their new design kit, if you read back you will see what prompted that question, now I don't know what your expierence is of that town but I have given you a clue with regards to its population figures, I will stand by the change of kit is insignificant in its attendance figures it makes no difference.
  2. Exactly Grunter, there is still quite a number of Cherry & White tops still evident on match days.
  3. I don't think the Leopard print has anything to do with anything Dav, it is the interest in the game that is the common denominator, not only in Leigh but across the RL spectrum in this country as my previous post indicates For that reason I don't see that IMG's involvement will improve anything, I know this won't happen but if Leigh got an 'A' grade do you think that would entice any of those I congregate with to attend? For a start they and most other people don't even know of IMG's involvement and their stratergies and that most probably also applies to 90% of those who do attend unless they come onto platforms such as this or buy the sports publications, try it, ask people who and what IMG are to Rugby League, I have and recieved blank expressions.
  4. If Leigh can average 6,000 home fans over the season that will be very good Dav, that will more than double what they averaged last season for a team that was unbeaten at home, and in '17 there was in the region of 5,500 average number of home fans. 6,000 represents something in the region of 14% demographically of the towns 42,000 population, that would put Leigh high up on the list of 'target audience' figures returned for any team in the British game, off the top of my head I would say that would be only bettered by Castleford. And another point, on Tuesday's and Friday's I go for a pint in a popular local, there is anywhere up to 12/14 of us that congregates - a reasonable cross section of clientele - nearly all can tell you everything you wish to know about the round ball game, the upcoming games, recent results, league positions, who plays for who etc etc, but apart from making a passing enquiry in how their local professional RL team are doing they have little to no interest, there is me and one other guy - both season ticket holders - who regularly attend albeit he doesn't go to away games. The reason I am saying this is that those returns could be much worse in other towns and cities where the number of people per capita attending or having any interest in the sport is of a much less %, at the other end of the scale is Leeds with approx 12/13,000 regular attendees out of an 800,000 population, put like that Leigh do reasonably well. PS, I won't even go anywhere near mentioning the interest in the towns two local NCL teams!
  5. None better than Johnners & Aggers, like this example I heard this live on TMS driving up the M6, how I didn't crash I will never know tears were streaming down my cheeks and I could hardly see a thing. PURE GOLD.
  6. I think we can do better but to answer your question no, when it was stated he was bound for Aus I predicted he would last a season at the most in that environment I know he has been there longer but how many games has he actually played over there?
  7. Hope so, that will confirm he won't be coming to Leigh.
  8. Don't know wether I should be gratified or wary that you should be thinking about me before 06:30 hours Bronco .
  9. You dissapoint me Bronco, I thought you would have at least mentioned IMG if only once, as the organisation to sort this out.
  10. There was nothing in it, and we all know Newman is made out of blancmange.
  11. Watching the SL highlights programme and in particular the Leigh v Leeds game, I must say I didn't notice it live, but thought that seeing the last tackle of the game by Leigh sub Wilde on Harry Newman, especially with the "Myleresque" showboating actions by Newman would result in a ban for Wilde.
  12. One says the guy quites 8000 and the other the guy quotes 10000.
  13. Was it two different guys you spoke to or did he change his mind?
  14. Yes Chris I went, and all through the closed shop period when in the latter part we lost 5 games in 3 seasons, I will not be going back to that and I feel totally sorry for any ambitious club that has to do so. One other point on that, if I was a financial backer of a Championship club who had ambition but was stifled I would find something else to spend my hard earned on.
  15. Then the joke went over my head, and if you were inferring it was me who said "leopard print underpants", it wasn't me.
  16. What a stupid thing to say. But it won't matter that much in a short while.
  17. Or put another way, take P&R away and create meaningless games from say mid season on for some clubs watch the interest and attendances suffer.
  18. Hull KR and Leigh are at the present time competing for points that matter for their league positions.
  19. Always had my suspicion of your involvement with IMG seeing as you've been their Number One Champion throughout this process!
  20. Disagree Tim, there are many who it seems want P&R to be assigned to history, that's not for me though, I enjoy the jeapordy aspect and the fight for promotion - and being a supporter of the club that I do, you will realise that I have expierenced probably more than most. There are those who believe that just turning up for a game should be paramount for enjoyment, I watch as much as anyone on TV - in fact I am watching Parra v Brisbane as I am typing this - yes I will enjoy this game, but it does not give me the emotional and sensory connection of watching my team fighting for points at whichever end of the table they are in. PS I have no assumption that we are like Football, the NRL, any number of American Sports and yes even European Basketball, and I have said so many times when posters deem it nessacary to make futile comparisons.
  21. Didn't do the batteries and screen much good
  22. Well put, with some realisation :- "We believe the whole essence of sport will be eroded with promotion by spreadsheet and there is a risk that we will turn off our key stakeholders, the fans"
  23. That reminds me of a mate at work, up until the late 70's when calculators took over we used Slide Rules to do a lot of claculas equations for our engineering systems, my mate could never get his head round it so he used it to stir his tea at brew times!
