  1. I don’t know why people say we should have a club here or there, or such and such another place isn’t suitable. The fact is that clubs are set up by enthusiasts and volunteers, with the time and bloody mindedness to try to do it, so they’ll be wherever those people are, not in strategic places.
  2. What do you think he’s on now, compared to what Saints would pay him? I really have no idea. Also he’d get to work with better players, have a bigger chance of winning trophies and play in front of bigger crowds at Saints, which must be tempting (if they wanted him).
  3. Just a shame they didn’t have the foresight to try to expand / absorb clubs outside of small parts of Yorkshire and Lancashire. Just think if they’d grown the game and absorbed Union clubs in just Sheffield / Rotherham / Barnsley, Liverpool, Wirral, Teeside and Central Lancs the game would be twice as big as it is now.

  5. That popularity is for players rather than spectators though. There’s no reason why kids in South Yorkshire wouldn’t enjoy playing league as much as they do union if the opportunity was there for them to do it.
  6. Thanks for that info. Could be loads of reasons for that of course, and it doesn’t look great, but look at those averages over three years, Sheffield could be a really strong championship side if they could get half that now.
  7. I’ve had a look and can’t find any info about their crowds in 98 and 99, there must have been a bounce though surely?
  8. I doubt anyone would force Salford or Huddersfield to merge with a club in a different town if they got to this year’s GF.
  9. What has who Ken Davy votes for got to do with anything? You marred your own otherwise interesting post there.
  10. In an ideal world they would but that isn’t life. When Lowestoft Town got to the Vase final they took 15,000 down, at least a quarter of the town’s population, you might say why don’t they average 7,500 in the isthmian league north or whatever they’re in now but that’s just not realistic.
  11. Did you go to the Saints v Salford final? They had 20k there.
  12. Sorry I misunderstood I thought you meant Elite 1.
  13. Agreed, if you pay for Sky sports basically 90% of that is paying for premier league football and the other 10% if for all the other chaff that’s on, other than rugby league. That’s why I sacked it off and went with now tv so I can cancel it any time.
  14. The French game isn’t professional. Also are premier league games available on a streaming service (genuine question I don’t know).
  15. Now tv sky sports have a 12 month offer at £25 a month at the moment, bargain tbf, especially if you enjoy watching NFL.
  16. I’d watch Bournemouth v Wolves but would rather watch a blank screen than Liverpool v Citeh in the cup final. I know many would disagree though!
  17. Tbf I agree it is poor from the RFL, if they’re laughing about a team getting battered by 100 points.
  18. True, it’s never happened.
  19. Salford haven’t even got the Hull score on their website yet https://www.salfordreddevils.net/team/fixtures-results/
  20. I’ve seen people with trollies full of junk food helping themselves to stuff from the food bank on their way out of our local Morrisons. While not making light of this situation, there are some people blatantly taking the Michael.
  21. You don’t pay for your useage per month though do you, unless you’re on a card meter? They try to even it out so you pay the same in summer as winter, hopefully that will mean yours doesn’t go up as much as you fear
  22. Sounds a sensible move from clubs who are going to struggle to pay their leccy bill.
