Newcastle Thunder to play at Blaydon RU
Stainesrover replied to Hopping Mad's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
I went to watch Newcastle Falcons v Leicester Tigers many years ago at Gateshead International Stadium, it was about 4/5 full and my memories were that it was an awful venue for pitch sports. Similar to Don Valley, uncovered seats miles away from the pitch. Even with 10k or so there, it was a rubbish atmosphere. This for me is a great move for Newcastle and Thier average crowds of 500-800 will fill it up nicely. I played Union at Blaydon years ago and the club house was fantastic. I'm sure they'll be buses/metro links easily accessible. -
The Friendlies Thread 2025

Luckily there is enough talent in Cumbria to at least give Haven a fighting chance. Really feel for them, it could happen to anyone's club. At least they will now have 17 Marras playing with pride and not have ###### oversees trotting out every week. -

Agents have a lot to answer for! Especially Karl Harrison's brother, not only does he speculate he is a fantasicst. -
2025 Transfer Tracker
Stainesrover replied to PREPOSTEROUS's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
People seem to think/quote that Abdull needed a knee clear out. That is a keyhole op that has 3-4 week lay off (basically vacuuming floating miniscus and peeling fragments off). However he needs what's called a Microfracture procedure. This is a totally different operation and has a usual lay off of 3-4 Months, even then you're on crutches for 6 weeks and can do minimum RL training. This op is not essential (meaning it could be put off if a club were in playoffs etc) but if it does need doing it should have been done the minute his contract started. Utter madness if you ask me. I can't see him retiring. He could still earn more than most people playing part time. Personally, I can see a coach in him. Maybe that's a route he should consider as one thing he does have is good RL IQ. -

Bottom one screams Salford. Home one is a very nice effort. -
Jack Walker is not happy
Stainesrover replied to The Future is League's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
Feel sorry for Walker, he was at Hull KR and looked the business, didn't put a foot wrong really. Was Hull FC's most attacking player last season and doesn't deserve to be without a club- he is way above lots of players in SL talent wise. Just had the injury tag attached to him. Real shame. If I were him, and the family circumstances were up to it, I would get my agent to try crack the NSW or Queensland Cup. If he could play a full season and shine, then he would become an attractive prospect for a SL club in 2026. He is 26, so would be 27/28 by that time so still has plenty of mileage in him. Wish him the best of luck, it's sad to see anyone out of work with a family. -
His agent should get an MBE, 4 year deal wow!! Very very average player so good luck to him, shows the dearth of talent in SL with news like this.

I'm sorry but you cannot compare someone playing French league standard to SL or NRL. Bottom end Champ/Top L1 standard. And at 5ft 4 he would have to be a very special player.

Championship 2025 predictions
Stainesrover replied to Bring back GB's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
London to finish well above bottom. Think they will get some investment, sign a few decent larkers, get a dual reg agreement and have a decent season. -
Only 16 players??? If so then that is sad.

Let's just lock this thread, like this thread Rugby League in Ireland is dormant, no need for any more input, either on the keyboard or actual people's time. -
2025 Season Tickets/Memberships
Stainesrover replied to Wollo Wollo Wayoo's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
Rochdale have announced only a handful of season tickets sold, what would be Midlands target, or any other League 1 club? I just can't understand how these teams in League 1 survive with the pittance they get from the central funding. Yorks/lancs I can understand with having dual reg partners, but my neighbour was an ex Hull KR academy player who turned out for Midlands and got £100 if they lost. Plus he had to travel a fair few miles to training, at least only twice a week.
