  1. It’s the best stuff, can u afford it?
  2. A bloke is of no specific gender these days
  3. Similar to my whispers. Major players in ABG have become ‘pals’ with Leigh’s owner over the past few years. They have taken a liking to LL as a club and RL as a sport. They took corporate at Vegas last year and liked what they saw, also seeing a huge opportunity in the states for a contact sport outside the AF season. A TV deal involving Sports illustrated studios seems to be floating about (docu series) and hence the acquisition of Reebok and its Bolton origins created the partnership that may lead to many avenues and eventually the purchase of SL and its media exposure in the states at the next tv deal. May be complete buzzcocks but Pete was a Leyther
  4. I am a great believer in rely on yourself not others. IMO the fans were naive in the last fundraiser - it should have been a share issue and the amount raised would have created a fan owned club. It’s now up to the 3000 or so hardcore to pay say £500 pa for season tickets to include £200 of shares so the more tip in the stronger the fans control and the positive signal sent to potential philanthropists
  5. The good people of Salford and surrounding areas simply do not have enough people willing to pay the going rate to fund a successful SL club. They undersold the play off semi v Leigh by a min of £10 a ticket and virtually gave away thousands to kids and still only had 6000 or so paying to get in. They need a bloke willing and able to pump in at least £1m Pa to be viable if not more in the early days. I hope they find that person
  6. I am probably going early to watch that game then back into town for a lunch with former colleagues then drive back - first on doesn’t do it for me as an occasion
  7. 500k from the annual deal, not an extra 500k. Debts built up despite cheap/no rent etc Player sales and 350k “share” issue so factor they won’t be there and 500k upfront means the poop hits the fan soon
  8. Big discounts were available though Dave. So imagine no discounts and 50,000 folk fighting for 43000 tickets. First ashes test at Everton’s new ground 53000 capacity second at Emirates third??
  9. Basic supply and demand, and until we have the demand we must control supply. An England v Aus opener in a 40k stadium would have greater demand than supply - you put all tickets on sale early and fans know if they don’t commit they miss out. The price is then set for the tournament around the clamour for tickets - the emerging nations need to operate like 2013, get them into a mix of new areas like Bristol or at non SL venues like Rochdale Worky and LSV at the time but just the one game - I can’t recall how many poor fixtures the LSV got last time creating little must see games or local interest.
  10. Only if he gets paid, the upfront will run out the season ticket surge will have gone so how do you run a business that is bankrupt at the cost levels that made it so and reduced income? 1/ You find a person willing and able to put in/lose Millions 2/ You slash cost and hope your income doesn’t go south
  11. Sneyd ain’t going to get a fee, it’s purely about wage bills
  12. We have never had that level of blind loyalty with any paper, especially since the Manchester papers decline from about 1990. Can we regain it or indeed achieve it for the first time - doubt it but we can do better by operating the “emperors clothes” strategy but need a willing partner.
  13. The pre professional days then, when folk trained a few nights a week and played on the Sunday around a full time job.
  14. You reap what you sowe, and “journalists” are about as trustworthy as politicians these days. I thought clubs had a weekly press conference btw and I don’t see many pro sports people away from match day giving “interviews” not sanctioned and without the club sat next to them.
  15. Turkish Lira
  16. Ultimate Rugby League - early stage backed by Billionaires in the States will be taking over SL soon
  17. It’s in motion - URL will be in charge soon
  18. Stockport was a founder member of the NU. Plenty from Burnley used to watch Keighley. Is Keighley in the corridor btw
  19. North west and Yorks/Humberside is 13m, add in NE and it’s 16m
  20. Price and affordability are two separate entities ie if we charged £360 for a season ticket that’s currently £300 that seems a large increase - hence why monthly memberships make it affordable ie £5 a month increase is easily sold ie a pint a month less pays it
  21. My error it’s greater than NSW and Queensland combined
