  1. I really don’t think it is that much of an advantage, if any at all. Their full strength, or what people would consider to be full strength, haven’t been interested for years though. Theo Fages hasn’t played since 2018, for example. I’m not sure what is going to interest them or this generation of French players or what will change.
  2. I’ve never understood why playing in France suddenly makes a game more competitive. Also, France’s full strength aren’t interested in playing for France, so we see their true full strength at World Cup’s.
  3. Obviously. But in true English RL fashion, we didn’t bother to capitalise on that interest and attendance.
  4. The attendances for both Exiles and France have been relatively low in the recent past. Players have pulled out on both sides and many of the England team (8/24 from the World Cup side last year were automatically ruled out for the France game) are based in Australia. I’m not sure how you create positivity and interest when the above is the case.
  5. Yes, I’ve nothing but good interactions with locals complimenting the nature of fans in the city and once got talking to a group of blokes in four different shirts. They were North East natives and the previous year were out in Newcastle and really enjoyed the atmosphere in the city on the day, that they decided to go to Magic the following year and had picked out clubs from a hat and bought shirts.
  6. I’m a big fan of Magic, Newcastle as a city and St James’ as a stadium and they’re fond of us, too, it seems. Having good relationships matters and I would look to maintain the relationship as much as physically possible from our side, especially given the attendance at the England v Samoa game.
  7. The issues at the World Cup weren’t the fault of Newcastle United’s or the wider Newcastle Council. Also, a smaller stadium would be terrible. One of the beauties of Magic is the space to move freely if you want a drink, to go to the toilet, leave the stadium etc. Thirty thousand in a thirty one thousand stadium would be a poor exeperience
  8. Nothing for Fash is wild. Clearly twists his body to lead with the shoulder into Percival. Still, he has to live with that haircut and that’s punishment enough.
  9. Genuine question, do Leeds women play home games at Headingley?
  10. Isn’t it two venues, instead of one? I’m sure I read that the double header had been scrapped. I suspect Saints v Leigh will be at Warrington.
  11. What’s with the London Broncos badge on the polo?
  12. “Callum Walker”. Colour me shocked.
  13. Professional by Wigan, high percentage and worked incredibly hard in defence. That said, Warrington have contributed in beating themselves with their error count surely in the twenties. Knockout rugby is brilliant.
  14. How are they even debating whether that’s a red card or not? It was clear as day and if the first one wasn’t, the second one definitely was.
  15. That’s a very good half by Wigan. They’ve completed their sets and kicked well, sometimes kicking for touch to eat some time and to get some air back in the lungs but they’ve also had a lot of ball from Warrington’s ridiculous error count, it’s as though they’re playing with a bar of soap and Wigan are playing with a ball.
  16. Got to be a red for Ellis. He’s gone head to head with Ratchford there.
  17. Echo what’s been said, no idea what to expect. You’ve got to think though that it’s a bigger game for Wigan than Warrington.
  18. Pretty comfortable in the end for Saints but you’ve got to be livid if you’re a Hull fan, not just because you’re a Hull fan but because the game was really on a knife edge against a Saints team with back rowers in the threequarters and the scoreline close and Josh Griffin gobs off again and again and again and gets himself an early bath and effectively ends your cup campaign with his mouth. Pretty comfortable in the end but costly for Saints. Percival now sits out for eleven days, missing next weeks revisit to Hull and Makinson clutching a hamstring in pain was a real bad look, a torn hamstring could be 2-3 month on the sidelines. It’ll be costly for Hull too, Griffin will get a small ban and Fash’s attack to a prone Percival’s head should have been a red and should be a good few weeks sat on the sidelines.
  19. It’s not. It was a yellow as plain as day in the first case. There’s literally no punishment to Fash or Hull FC but Saints are a man down for 70.
  20. So Saints go down to 16 for 70 minutes and Brad Fash gets to play on. How’s that right?
  21. https://twitter.com/wirecasuals/status/1669854908781133825 Some accusations in there from McGuire’s dad.
